Hot Chocolate. Save On Organic Food, Natural Snacks, Nut Butters, Tea, Coffee, and Bars, at Vitacost®! Ree makes sweet and rich hot chocolate for a family gathering by the fire. Great Hot Chocolate from Coast to Coast.

Hot Chocolate I've made it using regular cocoa powder, chocolate, chocolate chips and dutch cocoa powder. Dutch cocoa takes the cake in my opinion but the others come in a close second. Then I've used different milks (different percentages of fat, dairy and non-dairy). You can cook Hot Chocolate using 10 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you cook that.

Ingredients of Hot Chocolate

  1. You need 1 cup of full cream milk.
  2. Prepare 1 cup of cream.
  3. Prepare 4 tsp of milk powder.
  4. It's 6 tsp of unsweetened cocoa powder.
  5. Prepare 1/4 bar of dark chocolate.
  6. Prepare 1/4 tsp of vanilla essence.
  7. It's 4 tsp of Nutella(optional).
  8. You need 1 inch of cinnamon stick(optional).
  9. Prepare 1 pinch of salt.
  10. You need as needed of Sugar(if you’re not adding Nutella).

Regardless how you make it, I think whipped cream makes hot chocolate (or anything really) better. Feel free to use an extract such as vanilla or anise to flavor the whipped cream. Once dolloped onto your drink a small sprinkling of nuts, cocoa powder, or ground spices is a great way to add flavor and pump up. Steamed milk and mocha sauce topped with sweetened whipped cream and a chocolate-flavored drizzle.

Hot Chocolate step by step

  1. In a saucepan, combine milk, milk powder and cream and warm it up on low heat. Put in the cinnamon stick for it to release some flavour..
  2. Add bits of dark chocolate(the more the cocoa content, the darker it’ll get) and cocoa powder in a bowl, and add in one tablespoon of the hot milk in the saucepan to it. Mix with a whisk and ensure that there are no lumps..
  3. Now slowly pour the contents of the bowl into the saucepan and keep stirring..
  4. Add the vanilla and you’ll gradually see that the mixture will start to thicken. That’s because of the milk powder and cocoa powder. However, if it is not thick enough as per your choice, then in a separate bowl, mix 1/2 tsp cornstarch and 2 tsp water and then add this to the saucepan. This will thicken it immediately..
  5. After simmering for around 10 minutes, you can remove the cinnamon stick..
  6. Add Nutella to the saucepan now. This is what I used as the sweetener. However, if unavailable, simply replace it with 3-4 tsp of regular white sugar..
  7. Add a tiny pinch of salt to the mixture and you’re rich, creamy and delicious hot chocolate is ready to serve. Top it up with some marshmallows or with s’mores, or enjoy it as it is..
  8. Pro-Tip: I chose to get a hint of cinnamon in the hot chocolate but you can easily replace it with star anise and it’ll taste equally good. If you have an adventurous palate, then I’the recommend adding a bit of ginger and/or red chilli powder(a very tiny pinch). You can spike it up, too, with either Baileys or rum..

A timeless classic made to sweeten your spirits. Hot-chocolate mix is a wintertime staple. A homemade version is delicious and natural—containing only cocoa , sugar, and salt—and especially economical compared with store-bought mixes. From classic hot chocolate to hot chocolate spiced with cinnamon or chiles; accented with peppermint, orange zest, or peanut butter; and made with milk, cream, soy, or almond milk. Hot chocolate, also known as drinking chocolate, cocoa, and as chocolate tea in Nigeria, is a heated drink consisting of shaved chocolate, melted chocolate or cocoa powder, heated milk or water, and usually a sweetener.
